Privacy regulations require that visitors can update or withdraw their cookie consent at any time. SureCookie’s Re-Consent settings give you flexible ways to make this easy through a navigation menu link, a shortcode button, or a floating widget that appears on every page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choosing Your Re-Consent Method<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before diving into setup, decide which method works best for your site:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigation Menu Link<\/strong> – Best if you already have a footer menu or dedicated privacy links. Visitors find it naturally alongside other site links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortcode Button<\/strong> – Most flexible option. Place a “Manage Cookie Preferences” button anywhere on your site on a specific page, in your footer, or in a widget area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Floating Widget<\/strong> – Always visible on every page. Ensures maximum visibility and compliance, but requires SureCookie Pro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accessing Re-Consent Settings<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To access these settings, go to SureCookie > Settings > Banner<\/strong> and scroll to the Re-Consent<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Setting Consent Duration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Consent Duration<\/strong> field controls how many days a visitor’s consent remains valid before the banner reappears asking them to consent again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To update this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to Sure Cookie > Settings > General Settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Enter the number of days (most privacy guidelines recommend a maximum of 365 days)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Save your settings<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Note:<\/strong> A shorter duration means visitors see the banner more often, keeping your consent records fresh but potentially affecting user experience.     Using the Re-Consent Shortcode<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The shortcode method gives you complete control over where the re-consent button appears on your site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    To add the shortcode:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Copy this shortcode: Cookie-Einstellungen<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Go to the page, post, or widget area where you want the button to appear<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Open the block editor and add a Shortcode block<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Paste the shortcode into the block<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Publish or update the page<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      When visitors click this button, the consent banner reopens so they can update their cookie preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
